          The Vth Element

 

This project is simply a reflection on how subjective component has become a powerful element, which attempt against individual happiness.  First time I started thinking about developing such a project, was while looking through a showcase, that had a kind of almost perfect human mannequin (or vice-versa), and looking to it eyes, I wondered what was missing on the expression of the person in which it was inspired. Later on, I got multiple readings. It was beautiful but sad, apparently saved but insecure, either tired or unsatisfied. It was just a starting point.  

  Two years later, I decided to work on the idea of diptychs, each of them with a kind of dialogue itself. Some contain irony, contradictions, desires, frustrations, fantasies or hope.  For contemporary society, the concept of happiness has change up to the point that we are never satisfied with what we are, what we do, how we look like, what we have, or what we really need.  Our constant lack of satisfaction creates a hole in our existence, and we are not able to fill, and would never be.

 The Vth Element is just a puzzle full of questions with, imperfect as life is, as we are.  Just some  “notes” trying to make people feel, think, question, disagree.
